Our Under-18s suffered a 3-1 defeat at Watford in the Premier Academy League on Wednesday.

It was a rare below-par display from the lads as they fell to a first defeat in 10 matches in the PAL.

Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "I can only think of two below-par performances all season - MK Dons at home and now Watford.

"Watford scored early and we couldn't get going. They made it difficult for us and hit us on the counter-attack. It was a bit frustrating and we let them get the better of us.

"We created a few half-chances in the first half but then got caught for 2-0 on the hour and they finished it with the third on 75 minutes.

"We didn't play anywhere near what we're capable of but in fairness, that hasn't happened on too many occasions this season."

The team lost Kudus Oyenuga to an early injury and included trialist James Yeboah, while Under-15 player Shaq Coulthurst came on as a second half substitute.

Spurs U18s: Archer; Byrne, Yeboah (Francis-Angol, 55), Durojaiye, Tapping; Carroll, Parrett, Nicholson, Bostock, Mason (Coulthurst, 60), Oyenuga (Pritchard, 15). Unused sub: Butler.
