Our Under-18s beat reigning champions Leicester City 5-3 in the FA Premier Academy League on Saturday.

Our Under-18s beat reigning champions Leicester City 5-3 in the FA Premier Academy League on Saturday.

The Foxes won Group B of the league last season before toppling Arsenal and then Sunderland to take the title of FA Premier League champions.

There was good news for coach Alex Inglethorpe as Danny Rose made an instant impression on his first appearance since joining us from Leeds United in August.

Sidelined by injury since his arrival, Danny came on in the second half and was brought down for a penalty before scoring a fine individual goal on his debut.

Dean Parrett - still just 15 - caught the eye again in midfield and scored and Daniel Hutchins (pictured) curled home another spectacular 30-yarder.

Alex takes up the story: "We didn't start particularly well. We went 1-0 down after seven minutes when we got penned in in our box, they played a one-two and finished one-on-one.

"We went straight up the other end and Dean Parrett equalised with a fine strike from 20 yards.

"Leicester went ahead again midway through the first half when we played a loose pass and they capitalised.

"We got back into it just after the half-hour with a great goal from Daniel Hutchins. A corner was cleared out to him, he controlled the ball and bent it into the corner from about 20 yards. That was 2-2 at half-time.

"We made a couple of changes at half-time with Danny Rose and Calum Butcher both coming on and we changed a couple of things tactically that enabled us to control the game more.

"Dean Parrett released Alex Olsen to put us 3-2 up 10 minutes into the second half and then Danny Rose won a penalty and David Hutton slotted it for 4-2 after about 65 minutes.

"With about eight minutes left Danny scored an individual effort, an incisive run that took him into the box, cut inside a defender and then slid past the keeper.

"They scored again with a few minutes left.

"Leicester won the league last season and have a certain style of play that is difficult for opponents so we're naturally delighted to have beaten them."

Spurs U18s: L Butcher, Hutchins, Berchiche, Kasim, Martin (C Butcher, 46), Mtandari, Fraser-Allen (Rose, 46), Parrett, Olsen, Hutton, Obika. Unused subs: Dalton, Townsend, Smith.
