A goal either side of half-time accounted for our Under-18s in Saturday's 2-0 loss in the Premier Academy League at Coventry.
The home side opened the scoring from a free-kick in the 40th minute before making it 2-0 five minutes into the second half.
The lads had their best chances at 2-0 but couldn't find a way past the Coventry goalkeeper - Victor Zapata-Caicedo denied from close range, Shaq Coulthirst one-on-one.
Coach Alex Inglethorpe reported: "We had our share of possession without creating too much, Coventry defended well and in the end, our inexperience told.
"Coventry took the lead from a set-piece. I was disappointed because we didn't set ourselves up too well, it was a good delivery between the goalkeeper and the defenders and they had runners in there to convert it.
"I thought we were positioned okay for the second goal but Coventry broke on us quickly and took it well from 15 yards.
"We had two glorious chances after that. The first came after great work down the left, the ball was cut back for Victor and nine times out of 10 he would have scored, but the keeper somehow managed to turn it onto the crossbar. Shaq also missed a one-on-one chance.
"I think we're in a similar situation to last season. It's a young team and sometimes we'll find it hard, but I'm confident the lads will learn and get better and better."
