Our Under-18s are through to the final of the Tournoi International de Monthey after a 2-1 semi-final victory over Flamengo.

The Brazilian opposition were tipped by many as the favourites to win the tournament, but goals from Ryan Mason (pictured) and Paul-Jose M'Poku mean it's Alex Inglethorpe's men who will face Hajduk Split in Sunday night's final.

The coach said: "It was an incredible performance. We were giving away a number of years to an experienced Flamengo side who had stated their intention of winning the tournament in previous games.

"I felt the boys dealt with everything that was thrown at them and got better as the game progressed."

Mason gave us the lead after 20 minutes, latching onto Jon Obika's throughball before finishing well with his left foot.

Ten minutes before the break, Flamengo hit back after a counter-attack from our corner, but the lads did not let their heads drop.

M'Poku headed home the winner three minutes from time to set up a finale with a team we drew 1-1 with in the group stages on Thursday.

Alex added: "The first game means nothing. This is a final and therefore a completely different game, so we can't look at what happened before too much.

"We are used to playing in finals now, so this won't be like stepping into the unknown - but we can't let that confidence drift into complacency."
