Following a goalless first period at the Training Centre, we surged into a 4-1 lead in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League clash thanks to goals from Joe Pritchard, Anton Walkes, Ismail Azzaoui and Anthony Georgiou.
Jerry Amoo’s header from a corner reduced the arrears before Oscar Borg – whose earlier free-kick got the Hammers off the mark – repeated the trick in stoppage time to further narrow the scoreline.
“They were two really good free kicks from their lad, but we’ve got to look at how they got into those situations,” reflected Kieran afterwards.
“I thought at 4-1 up it should have been an easy game but we didn’t quite make it that.
“The first half was disappointing. We were a little bit tense in our play and didn’t play with freedom, didn’t control the ball well and didn’t really show our ability on the ball.
“The second half was better for a spell. In the first 30 minutes after half-time we imposed ourselves well and got the goals, so we’ve come out in some credit in the end but there’s lots of room for improvement.”
We’re back in Barclays Under-18 Premier League action on Saturday with a trip to Norwich City, kick-off 12pm.
