Our youngsters have lost their last two matches against Leicester and Brighton by the only goal, having been undone on the counter-attack during the second half after dominating possession for long periods.
Following last weekend’s defeat at Brighton, Under-18s Coach Kieran stressed the importance of making our control of games count and, having worked along those lines during training this week, he’s called for the boys to put on a good performance in what he expects to be another challenging London derby against the Hammers.
“The players have worked hard in training but the ultimate test will be transferring that into the match against West Ham,” he said.
“Last weekend was a pleasing footballing performance in terms of getting the ball into effective areas, but we’ve lost games lately off not being able to convert chances and conceding goals from our own set pieces on the counter-attack.
“We’ve spoken about that, we’ve reviewed it and worked on things in training individually, so the test will now be how well the boys can bring that into the game.
“We had a very spirited, tight game over at West Ham earlier in the season and we generally know what to expect when they come here – it will be a very competitive, high-intensity game and we hope that our quality shines through.”
Kick-off at the Training Centre on Saturday is at 11am. Follow us on Twitter @SpursOfficial for live updates.
