Andre Wright added to his goal at the end of the first half when he stormed through and beat goalkeeper Harry Voss from a tight angle less than 30 seconds after the interval at the Baggies’ training ground.
Kyle Edwards further extended the hosts’ lead before the hour mark, with Voss pulling off a string of important saves to prevent further damage from being done.
Under-18s Coach Kieran spoke of his disappointment at the way the Barclays Under-18 Premier League contest panned out and highlighted a number of areas for improvement.
“It was a disappointing performance from us,” he summarised. “We had plenty of the ball in attacking areas and plenty of forward movement but I thought our forwarding passing, our crossing and our finishing wasn’t of a high enough level to really threaten West Brom.
“At the other end, we didn’t do anywhere near enough defensively to stop their main threats and I thought every time West Brom looked to go forward there was always a chance they were going to score or get a shot in on goal.
“There’s work to be done going into the last week the of the league season but as always our focus will be on what the players’ main areas for development are. Certainly this was a game that highlighted some of those areas.”
The lads round off their Barclays Under-18 Premier League campaign with a home match against Aston Villa on Saturday, May 9.
