FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE

Wimbledon U18s 1-2 Spurs 2

Our Under-18s got back to winning ways against Wimbledon in the FA Premier Academy League on Saturday.

Andy Barcham (pictured top) was on target again to net the winner after the home side had fought back to level Richard Heller's (pictured below) opening goal.

Tommy Forecast continued his fine form to make an important save with the score at 0-0 and coach Pat Holland was able to field two schoolboys in keeper David Button, who came on for Forecast in the last 20 minutes and Jamie Davis.

Pat gave us the rundown: "It was nice to get back to winning ways and I felt we were the stronger side throughout.

"Wimbledon haven't the strongest of sides out this season but they gave it a go and there was a decent little crowd there, a nice atmosphere and that was good for both sides.

"We started off well and created half-chances, the keeper made one good save from Claude Seanla after about 25 minutes and then they had the best chance of the half, a poor back pass allowed their striker to get in and Tommy Forecast made a very important save.

"We went in at half-time at 0-0 having shaded it. The second half was similar and we opened the scoring on about the hour, a good ball from Charlie Lee over the Wimbledon back four, Hellar got onto it, side-footed it across goal and Andy Barcham deceived the keeper and it went straight it.

"Within minutes they got a free-kick on the edge of the box, ball swung in, we didn't deal with it and the boy found himself six-yards out and scored.

"I then made a change and brought the young boy Jamie Davis on, pushed him to the right wing, Richard Heller to the left and Andy Barcham up front and I think that changed it for us in that we had more pace and power, started to get behind them and had two wide players attacking the full-backs.

"The winner was an excellent goal. Jack Maghoma picked it up, made a great 20-yard run from midfield, slipped a ball into the box for Andy Barcham who'd made a blind-side run and dinked it over the keeper."

Spurs U18s: Forecast (Button, 70), McKenna, Wright, Lewis, Mills, Lee, Hellar (Dawkins, 85), Thyer, Seanla (Davis, 65), Maghoma, Barcham. Unused subs: Mascarhenas, Riley.
