Cardiff City U18s 2-2 Spurs

Our Academy lads warmed up for the big one against Nottingham Forest in the FA Youth Cup with this hard-fought draw in Wales on Saturday.

We trailed inside three minutes but recovered to take a 2-1 lead at half-time with goals from Claude Seanla and Scott Thyer (pictured above).

But the game turned when Jamie O'Hara (pictured left) struck the post in the second half and from that move, Cardiff broke and equalised with a deflected goal.

Coach Pat Holland reflected: "We didn't make the best of starts because from our play, a poor clearance from the back meant we were on the rebound, their player got through and finished and we were 1-0 down inside three minutes.

"Cardiff were quite lively in the first 20 minutes but in fairness the lads rallied.

"We got a penalty that we missed but then Jamie O'Hara and Charlie Lee were involved in good movement down the left side and Claude Seanla (pictured below) scored, that was after about 25 minutes.

"Five minutes later a good ball through from Chris Riley found Scott Thyer and he slotted it well so at half-time we're 2-1 up and on top.

"We started well again in the second half, kept the ball and looked the more likely scorers.

"Jamie broke forward, struck a shot that hit the post and came out and from that, they went forward and a shot deflected off their own man into the top corner.

"That was disappointing and it was tough after that, we had to work hard and although we still created chances, so did they. It would have been a good, open game for anyone watching."
