FA PREMIER ACADEMY LEAGUE
Spurs U18s 1-1 Birmingham City
Pat Holland admitted he was disappointed with this performance but was quick to credit his side for their fightback against the Blues.
City stunned the lads by opening the scoring after 25 seconds before a penalty from Kieran McKenna (pictured left) in the second half after Simon Dawkins was fouled in the box level the scores.
Coach Pat reflected: "They were a little older and had more second and third years than us so you have to be careful not to criticise the lads too much.
"Having said that, I was disappointed with the performance, especially in the first half.
"They scored after 25 seconds so that wasn't the ideal start.
"From their point of view it was good play and a terrific finish as their player arrived late and volleyed from the edge of the box. From our point of view, not so good.
"We changed it around in the second half. Birmingham had a three in the middle so we changed to go like for like and we played better in the second half.
"We scored quite a good goal, good work from Jack Maghoma, he threaded it through to Simon Dawkins who was brought down in the box and Kieran McKenna stuck the penalty away.
"After that, both sides could have won the game. Birmingham deserved their point but in fairness to the kids, they fought back and had a go in the second half.
"There were plusses again. Tommy Forecast (pictured right) played well and has come on leaps and bounds this season and Jack Maghoma has been doing well."
Spurs U18s: Forecast, McKenna, Wright, Lewis, Riley, Mills, Heller (Davis, 60), Dawkins, Thyer (Lee, 46), Maghoma, Barcham. Unused subs: Mascarenhas, Seanla, Kyriacou.
