We welcome the Swans to the Training Centre in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League off the back of a positive week, which began with a 3-0 victory at Norwich City last Saturday and has seen several players afforded an opportunity to train and play at a higher level in the intervening time.
A handful of Under-18s regulars were involved in Thursday night’s Under-21s triumph – also against the Canaries in front of a bumper crowd and the live television cameras at Carrow Road – and, as we return to action on home soil, Under-18s Coach Kieran wants the boys to continue their hard work on the pitch in order to keep up their progress.
“Everyone’s looking forward to the game – we haven’t played Swansea at this level for a while but, as usual, the focus will be on us and the boys will be looking to carry forward some momentum,” he said.
“Last week was positive and quite a few boys got an opportunity to play with the Under-21s on Thursday night, which was great. We’re always looking to give opportunities at this club and the lads who went up and played did well.
“We’re still within the international window so we’ve had mixed groups in training this week with everyone working to a high standard and trying to improve themselves individually, but now we come together as a group for another game and the boys will need to put all their individual components into the group effort.”
Kick-off on Saturday is at 1pm.
