Two goals in a minute from Cy Goddard and Armani Daly just before the hour mark added to Ryan Loft’s first half strike as we made it a hat-trick of wins in the Barclays Under-18 Premier League following the recent international break.
“It was pleasing in terms of the performance,” said Under-18s Coach Kieran. “From the off I thought we passed the ball very well, created a lot of opportunities and defended well as well.
“We didn’t allow Norwich to settle in the game or to create many chances.”
We lined up with an unfamiliar back four at Norwich’s Colney training centre, left-back Joe Muscatt playing on the right and winger Anthony Georgiou taking up the left-sided berth. Anton Walkes was partnered at centre-half by Japhet Tanganga – one of two Under-16s players given his full debut at the upper level. The other, Kazaiah Sterling, was a lively influence up front with Loft.
“Anthony Georgiou played at left-back which is different for him,” Kieran continued. “He’s done it a couple of times before but it’s useful for him in terms of rounding off his all-round game.
“Also for Japhet and Kazaiah to come in and make their first starts for the Under-18s was a good experience for them and I thought they both acquitted themselves very well.”
- Academy Manager John McDermott has thanked the medical staff at Norwich City for their assistance in the care of Joe Pritchard, who suffered a fracture to his leg during the match.
The midfielder was taken to hospital and underwent surgery on Saturday evening.
“I’m very grateful that our medical staff were incredibly well supported by the physio and doctor at Norwich City FC,” John said.
“I also wish to thank the hospital staff, who were exceptionally helpful.
“The incident was handled in an extremely professional manner and my thanks go out to all involved.”
