Boro finished comfortably atop the Barclays Under-18 Premier League northern section standings in the first phase of the competition, while we were runners-up in the southern equivalent.
As such, Under-18s Coach Kieran McKenna expects a high-quality game when we meet in the second match of the league’s play-off stage on Saturday at Boro’s Rockliffe Park facility.
“Middlesbrough’s is an academy that we hold in very high regard,” he said. “We played them twice last year, once in the league and once in the FA Youth Cup, and they have a proud tradition of bringing players through into the first team with a lot of local boys who’ve gone on to do well, so it’s a game that we’re really looking forward to.
“I’m sure they will be a good side and I expect a tough test for what will be a young group for us, but hopefully we’ll get plenty of positives out of the game.”
Kick-off is at 11am. We’ll provide updates at half- and full-time on Twitter @SpursOfficial in the build-up to our Premier League clash with Leicester City at White Hart Lane.
