Millwall U17s 5-2 Spurs

Under-17 coach Jimmy Neighbour put Saturday's defeat down to poor defending.

The lads conceded from two set-pieces inside the first 10 minutes and although they earned praise for the way they battled back to 2-2 via two goals from David Hicks (pictured), their hard work was undone again in similar circumstances in the second half.

Hicks headed home Owen Price's free-kick after 18 minutes and after an even contest for the rest of the first half, Hicks was there again to pounce on a loose ball in the box to equalise five minutes after the break.

But instead of taking charge at that point they were soon behind again and two more set-pieces towards the end secured the home side's win.

Jimmy said: "It was a poor defensive display, simple as that.

"We were 2-0 down inside 10 minutes, two set-pieces that we needed to defend better.

"We got back into it, started the second half reasonably well and when David Hicks equalised, I thought we might have gone on to win it.

"But we condeded again from set-pieces. It was disappointing and the lads will have to learn from it."
