Trio in England squad

Posted on 4 October 2004  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Paul Robinson, Ledley King and Jermain Defoe have all been named in Sven Goran Eriksson's squad for England's World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Azerbaijan.

All three started the last qualifier against Poland - Jermain scored in the crucial 2-1 win - the first time that had happened at Spurs since 1987.

But it looks like all three will have to fight for their place against Wales at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Despite Robbo's performances in goal before and since Poland, Eriksson could yet revert back to David James, Ledley now faces opposition from fit-again Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell while a certain Wayne Rooney is back amongst the strikers.

England travel to Azerbaijan next Wednesday after Saturday's clash against Wales.
