On Saturday December 20th, 120 children from Haringey's ON TRACK initiative visited the Club for a special Christmas Tournament sponsored by THE CO-OP.
Boys and girls aged 6-12 attended the event which saw them competing in two tournaments in our indoor facility at White Hart Lane Stadium. Our FA qualified Community Coaches oversaw the activities to ensure that all had a safe, fun time.
ON TRACK is a long-term initiative aimed at children aged 4-12 years who are at risk of not realising their full potential and, as a result getting involved in crime. A Government funded project, ON TRACK aims to enable children and families to see improvements in all aspects of their own lives.
THE CO-OP, which has a strong presence in the Haringey and North London Community, supported the event, which aimed to give local children who may otherwise not have had the opportunity, the chance to visit a Premiership club and partake in an expert football session.
Val Darbyshire, Co-operative Affairs Officer for the South East Region of The Co-operative Group, attended the event along with several member of the North London Area Committee. She said:
"As the UK's leading convenience store retailer, we are committed to supporting the local communities that we serve. There's a lot of enthusiasm for, and commitment to football from children in this area but many don't get access to a professional club. THE CO-OP is delighted to offer this Christmas present to so many local children. I hope they will remember their day at Spurs into the New Year and beyond."
