Townsend's target

Posted on 23 May 2015  - 11:10

Andros Townsend is only thinking about us as we travel to Goodison Park on Sunday.

The flying winger says we simply have to try and beat Everton and then think about other results.

The maths are simple though going into the final weekend of the season - if we manage to topple the Toffees and Liverpool fail to beat Stoke, we will finish fifth in the Premier League.

"We can only focus on what we can do and we have to try to get three points against a very good Everton side at Goodison Park," said Andros.

"First and foremost, we have to go and win the game and if results go our way, great.

"If not, we go again next season."

Andros is well-acquainted with fellow England internationals Ross Barkley and John Stones in the Everton ranks.

"They have good young players coming through, players like John Stones and Ross Barkley who will be massive for club and country," added Andros, who has been named in the latest Three Lions' squad for June's matches against the Republic of Ireland (June 7) and Slovenia (June 14).

"It will be good to see them both but hopefully we’ll get the win.

"Both teams will want the points, Everton will want to try win in front of their fans and finish as high they can and we want to do the same."
