Tour 2016 - Tom's Aussie g-love story

Posted on 26 July 2016  - 06:45

Tom Glover has returned to Oz - and living a dream for a week back home in Australia.

The young goalkeeper is part of our touring squad in Melbourne as we take on Juventus and Atletico Madrid in the International Champions Cup.

Tom, 18, is an Aussie  who has followed his football dream all the way from Sydney to Spurs.

He made strides last term - featuring in 15 matches for our Under-21s - and has trained with the first team so far throughout pre-season.

Now he’s back Down Under with the Club with the possibility of some game time in front of his family at the iconic MCG.

“I was thinking on the plane that we normally fly all over the world but not really to Australia, so just looking at the screen and it saying ‘Melbourne’ didn’t really sink in until we landed,” said Tom.

“This is a dream come true for me. I never would have imagined that I would be coming back to Australia with the first team. I didn’t believe that would happen but here I am back on home soil!

“It’s a great opportunity for me and the chance for my family and friends to be able to watch me train and warm-up with the first team. It’s special because they are all down here in Australia and I’m back in London.

“The Club has given me a great opportunity, especially at such a young age. I’m only 18 and working with these players is surreal.

“I learn every day, especially working under Toni Jimenez (coach) with the likes of Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm. I’m trying to take the opportunity with both hands.”
