We travel to Malaysia and then Australia next week and take on a Malaysia XI at the Shah Alam Stadium on Wednesday (May 27, 8.45pm local time).
What is the mood like in Kuala Lumpur as the tour gets ever closer?
Amir Mahmood Razak: “We’re all excited - Spurs are back 36 years after winning 4-0 against a Malaysian select team in 1979. There is a bigger fanbase now in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia as well. Everyone gets excited when the team comes to their country and that’s certainly the case.”
What can fans travelling to Kuala Lumpur expect from the city?
Amir: “Well, the weather is the opposite of London! It’s so cold here! It’s very hot and humid. Otherwise, Malaysia is a very friendly country and we’re friendly people, we speak English everywhere, there is great food and lots of shopping to be done. Away from the game, there is lots to do.”
Can you tell us about the Shah Alam Stadium?
Amir: “It’s a very historic stadium, one of the first ‘modern’ stadia in Malaysia, before the national stadium was built. It’s the home of the most successful state team in the country, Selengor, which is where I come from - 33 championships! It’s one of the best stadia in the country and it will be a fantastic atmosphere.”

The Malaysia XI may not win many games, but the team is rarely well-beaten. For example, Barcelona and Manchester City both won 3-1 in recent years.
Amir: “The team will always score a couple of goals against the European teams and the players always want to prove they are not just there to make up the numbers. The team is very good at dead-ball situations and have players who can hit free-kicks like Christian Eriksen. That will be something Spurs will have to look out for.”
With lots of events and open training as well, everyone must be looking forward to a busy few days!
Amir: “Yes, there are coaching sessions for the fans, open training, the match itself - I’m sure this will be a memorable experience for all of us.”We travel to Malaysia and Australia next week and take on a Malaysia XI at the Shah Alam Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday (May 27, 8.45pm local time).
