David Pleat will have to contend with injuries and absentees as he prepares for the challenge of taking on Chelsea at the Lane next weekend.
Saturday's defeat to Southampton at St Mary's came at a cost of more than the three points as three players will be nursing injuries at Spurs Lodge this week.
Ledley King is suffering from tight hamstrings and Fredi Kanoute a bruised shin, while Christian Ziege is being treated for a groin injury. Of those who missed out against Southampton, Mauricio Taricco is struggling with a thigh/hip problem, while Dean Richards is still suffering with an ear related virus. Darren Anderton continues to receive treatment for his Achilles injury.
There is some good news on the injury front, Simon Davies is expected to return to light training this week after his shin problems.
Meanwhile, we now have four players in the Republic of Ireland squad that takes on the Czech Republic on Wednesday. Stephen Kelly has been added to the group, the young defender replaced Ziege after 47 minutes on Saturday having made his full Spurs debut against Charlton in the final game of 2003.
"He is a player who shows tremendous promise and we are proud to have four players in the Republic of Ireland squad," commented David Pleat.
Anthony Gardner and Jermain Defoe link up with the England squad today ahead of Wednesday's friendly in Sweden and OJ Mabizela will represent South Africa in their international against Australia.
