The full-back has been laid low with a nagging groin problem and has cut a pretty despondent figure around Spurs Lodge of late.
He revealed: “I had my operation in the summer but this is a different area. I suppose it’s because all the muscles around the area are a bit weaker than they were before the operation. Hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be sorted.
“There is some fluid in there and apparently the muscles are working a lot and that is why it is sore. I had an injection and hopefully that will help settle it down quickly.”
The setback came at the wrong time for Taricco. He seemed to have won his place back from Ben Thatcher after our £5million summer signing was injured against Everton.
The Argentinian responded with fine performances against West Ham and Charlton but has been ruled out since.
He has said all along that he expects competition for places at a club like Tottenham and maintains that stance.
Taricco insisted: “It doesn’t make any different to me personally that there is this competition in the squad in my position or any other position.
“It doesn’t change me at all. It doesn’t affect me at all really. What does affect me though is my fitness.
“I try to do my job every time play whether it’s the first team or the reserves.
“I always try to play my game the way I was brought up, passing the ball and sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn’t.
“Unfortunately though I am injured and you cannot play, not even badly, when you are injured.”
Frustration is the name of the game for Mauricio Taricco at the moment.
