Chris Hughton described our FA Cup third round trip to Cardiff City as 'as tough as it gets' outside the Premiership.

Chris Hughton described our FA Cup third round trip to Cardiff City as 'as tough as it gets' outside the Premiership.

We were paired with the Welsh side in Sunday's draw with the tie scheduled for the weekend of January 6/7.

Cardiff are flying high in the Championship having topped the division until a recent run of four games without a win. They remain third having won six and lost only one of 10 league games so far this term at Ninian Park.

"It's a very tough draw, not just because it's an away tie, but because we're up against a Championship team enjoying a very good season," said Chris.

"When you go into any draw, ideally you want to be at home and then stay away from Premiership teams. I would say that aside from getting a Premiership team away, this is as tough as it gets."
