The Tottenham Hot-Wheels project is "rolling" forward this summer with funding from the London Summer of Sport 2008.

The Tottenham Hotspur Foundation has received over £1,000 in funding to allow young Barnet women to learn how to roller-skate and develop existing skills in an all-female environment.

A Summer Camp was held at Queen Elizabeth Girls School in Barnet every Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm, commencing Tuesday July 30 and running through the summer holidays.

An activity day was also held to promote the camp, with five sessions delivered to a total of 180 Year 10 girls throughout the day.

Feedback showed a majority of the girls had never experienced skating as part of their PE lessons, therefore welcoming this unique opportunity.

Karen Hills of the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is leading on this project, and said: "This is an exciting new project that will give young females within Barnet the opportunity to become more involved in a sporting activity that is not normally offered to them during the summer holidays. It's a way for them to keep fit and to have fun with their friends in a safe and controlled environment."
