Fresh from its launch at Downing Street with the Prime Minister yesterday, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is receiving strong backing from all corners of the political world.

Fresh from its launch at Downing Street with the Prime Minister yesterday, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation is receiving strong backing from all corners of the political world. While the Prime Minister chatted to Tottenham Hotspur Foundation coaches and to participants of a very unique football session in the famous street, his parliamentary colleague, David Lammy, MP for Tottenham was also speaking in favour of the Foundation.

"I am delighted to see Spurs renewing and increasing their commitment to the local community by launching the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation today. Some of my earliest memories as a young child in Tottenham are of the football club, and I'm sure the same is true of most of the young people growing up here today. I know Spurs will continue to provide a much-needed service for young people in our community."

Haringey Council also pledged its help and support for the new Tottenham Hotspur Foundation. Cllr. Lorna Reith, executive member for community involvement, said:

“Spurs play a vital part in many community initiatives throughout the borough. This foundation will make a real difference to thousands of local people, especially the young. To put £4.5m into this scheme is a remarkable commitment to our community and other parts of north London. On behalf of Haringey Council I would just like to thank the club for this wonderful initiative.”
