Chris Hughton expects nothing less than a stern test when we tackle Italian opposition in the shape of Torino at the Lane on Saturday (August 4, 2pm).

The Serie A side and famous city rivals of Juventus arrive at the Lane for our last senior friendly of the pre-season before the big kick-off at Sunderland on Saturday week, August 11.

Torino - who once won five straight Scudetto titles - only just avoided relegation by a point last season.

"I would expect a very tough game from Torino," said Chris at Spurs Lodge on Friday. "We haven't had a game at this stage of pre-season that hasn't turned out that way.

"They will be lifted by a big crowd for what is our home friendly before the season starts and you don't play an Italian team without them providing tough opposition.

"Torino are a big club, a famous name in Italy and I'm sure they will make it tough for us. There will be a lot of Italian based Italian supporters making their way to the game and Torino will rise to the occasion.

"From our point of view, we have a week to go and we'll approach this game as we have our previous pre-season matches. When you look at Chelsea playing Manchester United on Sunday, we have to approach this game as those teams will that one - the season's kick-off is only just over a week away."
