Too good to turn down

Posted on 13 October 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Colin Calderwood admits the chance to take charge of Northampton Town was too good to miss.

His move to the Sixfields Stadium last Friday ended his spell as reserve team manager at Spurs.

This was Colin's third season in charge of the reserves during which he's helped the progress of the likes of Stephen Kelly, Dean Marney, John Jackson, David Galbraith and Lee Barnard.

He reflected: "The main attraction for me first and foremost was the opportunity to be in charge of a team and be the manager on a day to day basis.

"But now I’ve got the job, I have to do justice to the opinions that people had of me to get it in the first place.

"The club seems very stable, money has been put into it and the chairman is in the process of buying the ground so it becomes the ownership of the club rather than the council.

"From that they’ll have a good foundation to carry out the plans that they have to the benefit of the club."
