Recent injuries to both Dean Richards and Ledley King have seen Tony drafted into the centre, flanked by the smaller Chris Perry and Ben Thatcher.
It is a bit of a departure for the big man, who is accustomed to playing on the left, but he says it is a different game that can only improve him.
"It's different for me because I'm used to playing on the left," said Anthony. "I don't mind playing in the middle, it's a different sort of game you have to play.
"You've got more responsibility, but I like that responsibility on my shoulders and it'll make me a better player."
Tony certainly put in a big performance in that position against Liverpool and he dedicates it to the fans and staff.
"I enjoyed it massively. We wanted to put on a big final day for ourselves and the fans, particularly the fans, and for the staff."
Anthony Gardner is relishing the added responsibility of playing in the centre of a defensive three.
