Anthony Gardner is hopeful of winning his first England cap on Tuesday night.
The tall, stylish defender joined up with David Platt's 20-man Under-21 squad for the friendly against Italy at Bradford City straight after Sunday's victory at Fulham. He is joined by team-mate Matty Etherington.
Back in the side at Spurs, Anthony may well have timed his international breakthrough to perfection with Platt's plans for May's European U21 Championships soon going into overdrive.
Anthony said: "It's a squad of 20 so hopefully I'll get a half or even just 20, 25 minutes, as long as I get on.
"I'm looking forward to joining up with the squad and hopefully I'll go on and get my first cap.
"There are a lot of good defenders out there so I'm just pleased to be getting a chance."
He's just as pleased to get his chance at Spurs.
His recovery from last May's knee ligament injury kept him out of first-team plans until December but he's been involved since and now in the starting line-up.
"It's all good at the moment," he insisted. " Hopefully I'll continue for the rest of the season, injury free, and play as many games as possible."
