Luka Modric was delighted to mark his Premier League century with a win at Fulham.
The silky Croatian midfielder reached the milestone for the club in Sunday’s hard-fought 3-1 victory at Craven Cottage.
Luka certainly played his part as we made it seven wins and a draw in our last eight matches – and it wasn’t lost on him that instead of talking about his goals or assists, it was a goal-line clearance that made the difference this time.
He was there when it mattered to deflect Clint Dempsey’s header off the line in the second amazing scramble in added time.
“It was my duty during free-kicks and corners to be on the second post and thankfully I managed to clear the ball,” he smiled. “It was very important. Before that, Brad saved brilliantly and after, Jermain scored to win the game.
“It’s a nice achievement to play 100 games in the Premier League and we won, that’s the main thing.
“It was a hard game, especially in the second half. In the first half we played really well, we didn’t allow Fulham to play their game.
“In the second half Fulham played really well but in the end we managed to survive and not concede a second goal. That was unbelievable!
“Then we scored the third goal. It’s always good to win against Fulham on their pitch because it is always such a difficult game.”
