Tom Huddlestone spoke of his pride after captaining the side in Tuesday's famous win against Inter Milan.
Rafa van der Vaart, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko scored the goals as the Champions League holders and Italian champions were put to the sword 3-1 at the Lane.
The result left us top of Group A with a home game against Werder Bremen (November 24) and trip to FC Twente (December 7) remaining. One win and we'll qualify for the knockout stages.
Also skipper in our 4-3 defeat at the San Siro, Tom felt the team made amends for the disastrous first half that ultimately cost us first time out against Inter.
"It was a very proud moment," said the midfielder. "I was captain in the San Siro but that didn't quite go to plan, so to make up for it was special
"We felt we let ourselves down in the first game against Inter but we fully made up for that.
"We knew all about the calibre of their players. They won the treble last season, so we knew it was going to be a tough test, but we had our game plan to press them from the first whistle and stuck to it.
"We want to get through the group and we've given ourselves the best possible chance to do that."
