Academy striker Tomas Pekhart was a late substitute as the Czech Republic lost out to Argentina in the final the FIFA World U20 Cup in Canada.

Tomas, who only turned 18 in May and was the youngest member of the squad, came on for the last seven minutes and was on the pitch when Argentina struck a late winner through Mauro Zurate to clinch the world crown. Earlier, the Czechs took the lead on the hour via Martin Zenin only for Player of the Tournament Sergio Aguero to level within two minutes.

Tomas featured in all seven games and scored the decisive penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out against Spain.
