Before then, they face Belarus in a final preparation friendly at Barnsley’s Oakwell on Thursday (7.45pm) having beaten the Republic of Ireland 3-1 in a behind-closed-doors match at St George’s Park on Friday. Tom opened the scoring and both he and Alex played 58 minutes.
“I’m really looking forward to it and I think we’ve got a good chance, we’ve played some big teams, the likes of Portugal and Germany, and got results.
“Obviously they were only friendlies and now we’ve got the competition where it really matters but having those games and winning shows what we’re capable of.
“When you get to the finals stage of a tournament like this you know you are going to come up against top teams and top players but I think we can say the same, so that gives us a good chance.”
