Tom Huddlestone will return to pre-season training convinced he is on an upward career curve with the ink now dry from his signature on a new five-year contract.
The 21-year-old put pen to paper this week on a new agreement that sees him commit to the Club until 2013.
The Nottingham-born midfield pass-master arrived in N17 from Derby County in July 2005. Just 18, he knew that he would be facing fierce competition for midfield places.
That remains the case to this day, but the impact of the elegant middleman with a precision passing range has increased substantially in the last two seasons. In 2006-07 he registered a total of 35 First Team appearances before upping his tally to 43 games last term, contributing seven goals over this period.
He clearly has a sense of heightened anticipation over the forthcoming campaign under the stewardship of Juande Ramos, having tucked away a first cup winners' medal in his pocket following our Wembley win in February.
More of the same is clearly the aim for a player who has now achieved silverware, is ten off the 200-game career milestone and been drafted into a full England squad by Fabio Capello in May at just 21 years of age.

"Last season was definitely my most productive and to be part of a trophy winning team was a great experience, one I will never forget." said Tom, who went on to reflect on the meeting of his statistical goal since pulling on the Spurs shirt for the first time at Fulham in January 2006.
"I always aim to play more games every season and I have achieved that year-on-year whilst I've been here, and to cap the season off with my first England call-up was fantastic.
"I'm extremely pleased to have been given this new contract. I am settled and happy at Spurs and I am now looking forward to enjoying my best years here.
"It is a great feeling to know that the Club, particularly with such a respected and proven coach as Juande Ramos, have such faith in my ability."
Tom hopes it is now a case of onwards and upwards for himself and his teammates when the whistle shrills to hail the beginning of season 2008-09.
"This is an exciting and young team to be a part of and everything I have experienced up to now just makes me hungry for more. I believe with the coaching and playing staff we have here that there is the prospect of an exciting season to come and a good few more after that."
