Tom Huddlestone marked his return from suspension with a goal for England Under-21s against Bulgaria on Tuesday night.

The midfielder rifled in a volley that skidded home off the wet surface to open the scoring after 25 minutes of the European U21 Championship qualifier in Sofia.

West Ham's Mark Noble doubled England's lead after 32 minutes and the scoreline stayed at 2-0 in soaking conditions at the Balgarska Armia Stadium, home of CSKA Sofia. Ben Alnwick was again an unused substitute.

It means Stuart Pearce's men have won their opening two qualifying matches having toppled Montenegro 3-0 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Academy striker Tomas Pekhart scored twice as Czech Republic U21s hammered Liechtenstein 8-0 in another European Championship qualifier. That makes it three goals in two games for Pekhart this week after he scored in the 1-1 draw against Armenia on Saturday.
