It’s been a month of firsts for the Academy graduate with a first senior goal (Monaco, December 10) followed by a first Premier League start (Newcastle, December 12) and now a first Premier League goal after coming off the bench to wrap up the three points in the 3-0 win against Norwich on Boxing Day.
Allowed space 25 yards out, Tom laced a shot that curled perfectly inside the far post with 10 minutes left at the Lane, the icing on the Christmas cake.
“I was delighted to score my first Premier League goal, the celebration wasn’t the best again but absolutely delighted to score and get the win,” said Tom, who described the feeling as ‘even better’ than his first Spurs goal against Monaco.
“I caught it perfectly and as soon as I hit it I knew it had half a chance.”
Tom echoed the view that we dominated after a slow start. “The first 20 minutes we were slow to get out of the blocks but after that I thought we played well and dominated in the second half. We looked sharp and at it from the word go after the break.”
The team face a quick turn around with a trip to Watford next up tomorrow (Monday, December 28, 3pm KO).
“It’s another tough game,” added Tom. “They are an organised side and they are doing well at the moment. The front two look dangerous so it will be a test but we’re looking forward to it.”
