The defender scored his first goal for the club to hand us the lead in the second half and we didn’t look back as goals from Harry Kane and Erik Lamela secured a 4-1 victory.
That represented the last of four matches in 10 days at the Lane and the games keep coming thick and fast as we travel to Monaco in the Europa League before the trip to Swansea in the Premier League on Sunday.
“It’s just a win, we can enjoy it, then we have to work hard again, improve every day and we can have a fantastic season,” said Toby.
“We don’t have to dream too much, we stay with two feet on the ground, work hard and we know we have a young, talented group of players.
“If we work hard and we do everything we have to do then we have the quality to make the difference.”
Toby has quickly formed a solid partnership with Belgian compatriot Jan Vertonghen, the central lynchpin of a defensive unit that has conceded just five goals in seven matches in the Premier League – but he was more than happy to weigh in at the other end!
“If I can help the team with a goal, and to score my first goal at Spurs, then I’m very happy,” he added. “The first half was difficult but we had some chances in the second half, especially after 2-1. We had a lot of belief, we put in the effort, everyone worked so hard and at the end we deserved the win.
“Now it’s important to build on it.”
