The Welsh midfield stylist has earned rave reviews this season for both club and country, but he struggled slightly during our sticky spell culminating in his desperately unlucky sending-off against Arsenal at Highbury.
He was full of running against against City and gained his reward with a second half goal that he admits has given him a timely tonic.
"It does a bit," he reflected. "It's been frustrating for me lately, I've not been playing as well as I would have liked. It's nice to get back on the scoresheet and I'll take some confidence from that and hopefully go on to better things."
Simon agrees that his amazing upward spiral was bound to level out at some point in time, but hopes his goal will provide a fresh springboard.
"That's what people have been saying to me lately because I've been disappointed with the way I've been playing. Hopefully now I've had my blip, can start again, and see how far I can go this time."
Simon Davies says his goal against Manchester City was a boost for him after a frustrating period.
