There is little respite for the squad as we return to Europa League duty on Thursday night, with Slovenians NK Maribor at White Hart Lane for Matchday Four, a key encounter as we look to progress to the knockout stage of the competition.
That’s followed by a trip to champions Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday.
“The team is strong enough to come back from this defeat,” said Jan, who went close himself as we tried in vain to find a goal against Wigan.
“We have a lot of important games ahead, important games in Europe and difficult away games. We have to stick together. We know we’re strong in away games and we can win at any away ground.”
As for the Wigan defeat, Jan added: “We had problems with their system, but normally we turn it around.
“We just couldn’t do it and it was a shame for the fans because it was a big opportunity with Arsenal losing, plus Fulham and Everton drawing. Overall, it was very disappointing.”
Like the rest of the squad, Jan struggled to hide his disappointment after the 1-0 defeat as Ben Watson’s goal in the 56th minute secured the points for the visitors.
