Tim's thanks to fans

Tim Sherwood has expressed his thanks to supporters who made the trip to Ukraine for our Europa League Round of 32, first leg against FC Dnipro in Dnipropetrovsk.

Just over a 100 fans travelled to the Dnipro Arena despite the well-publicised troubles in the country's capital Kiev.

They witnessed an entertaining, end-to-end encounter that unfortunately went against us as the home team converted a late penalty.

Head Coach Tim and the players are confident of turning around that deficit in the second leg back at the Lane on Thursday (February 27).

But back at the Training Centre on Friday and preparing for Sunday's Premier League trip to Norwich City, Tim's thoughts turned to the fans that headed out to Ukraine.

"The players were not expecting any of our fans to travel due to all the troubles in Kiev but I told them they would be sure to be in attendance because they always have been there for us," he said.

"Even when I was a player they have always travelled wherever we played.

"The boys were certainly grateful to have our fans represented out there as was everyone at the football club so we would like to say a massive thank you to those fans who travelled all the way to Dnipro – we know it was far from the easiest trip for them. We really do appreciate their support.

"I genuinely believe we have the best travelling support in the country and to follow us across to Ukraine during difficult times in that country reinforces that point.

"We really do appreciate all their efforts and will do our best to turn this result around so we can all enjoy even more European journeys this season.”
