Second half goals from Ryan Mason and Jack Barthram secured the victory at Kingsmeadow.
The Ryman League, Premier Division side started well though and Jonathan Miles was forced to make three fine saves to keep it goalless at the break.
We controlled the second half as Mason opened the scoring in the 50th minute.Barthram added the second in the 69th minute and although Kingstonian replied late from the penalty spot and then missed a chance to level, our young team warranted their victory.
"The players needed the minutes and they will improve for it," said Tim.
"I thought they did well. It was difficult for us to get a foothold in the game in the first 20 minutes but after that we got into a rhythm and passed the ball well.
"We know what these games are like, we've played matches like this before and we know what's coming. We know it will be physical and you can't afford to get embroiled into a battle. You have to try to keep the ball away from them and move with a bit of cleverness and that's what we did.
"Overall, it was a good work out."
Our Spurs XI's next friendly is against Como in Italy on Saturday, 8.30pm kick-off local time.
