Ledley King, Simon Davies, Anthony Gardner and Matthew Etherington have tasted cup despondency and heavy Premiership defeats in what has been a difficult last three weeks for everyone at the club.
Midfielder Tim explained: "They are young but they've played games, they know what's needed and I'm sure they'll be alright.
"If we can get positives out of it it's that those guys will come on strong and will know what to expect next time around."
Tim, skipper in Teddy Sheringham's absence, explained that it was up to the more experienced players to show the way.
He added: "You don't have to say too much to the younger lads, just leadby example, go out there with the right attitude and see if they can emulate it.
"If they know that we've got our heads down and grafting then they know it's the way to go. I've seen it all before - but that doesn't make it any easier at the moment."
Tim Sherwood is convinced our younger players will be all the stronger for experiencing the down side of footballing fortunes.
