Ian brings with him a wealth of experience in the ticketing and customer relations industry, having spent nine years at The Football Association, where he headed the ticket operation for England supporters at four major championships along with the qualification periods.
Since 2004 Ian was also responsible for The FA's Customer Relations Department and headed up 'englandfans' - the national team's official supporters' organisation.
"The events of the summer, which led to the prolonged absence of four senior staff, were clearly responsible for an interruption to the high levels of service our fans rightly expect from our Ticket Office. I should like to apologise to supporters and thank you for bearing with us during this period of transition," said Executive Director Paul Barber
"Ian has been working as our Ticket Office consultant for the past few weeks and, with the fantastic support of a young team, he has already started to address the various problems our fans encountered in the early part of this season. He has also now started the process of recruiting experienced staff to supplement his existing team and to manage the extremely busy period of matches ahead of us. We are delighted to welcome him to our senior management team."
Following a summer of significant and unavoidable changes in the staffing of our Ticket Office, the Club can announce the appointment of Ian Murphy to the position of Head of Ticketing.
