Three of a kind

Posted on 22 October 2003  - 12:00

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

David Pleat refused to take any credit for the three substitutions that had a huge bearing on the game against Leicester on Sunday.

Stephane Dalmat was first on straight after half-time and put on a dazzling performance culminating in a mazy run that led to Fredi Kanoute's winner, while OJ Mabizela scored a stunning goal on his debut that was set up by fellow sub Bobby Zamora.

A hat-trick of inspired substitutions?

"It was a hat-trick of lucky substitutions!" laughed a modest David. "Making them is not inspired - they are either lucky or unlucky.

"We had no choice, we had to freshen it up at half-time and we did that. Darren and Gus were struggling in midfield and we needed a bit more bite and needed someone with a bit more attacking instincts on the left.

"They were substitutions that anyone would have done with a sensible knowledge of how we were doing in the circumstances."
