Think Fit, our female-focused sports programme, and the Big Lottery’s Female Legends project recently hosted the first Tottenham Hotspur Foundation Female Legends Tournament at Wadham Lodge, Walthamstow.
Over 45 women from North London participated with prizes given on the night to the overall tournament winners, the Player of the Tournament and the Fair Play award.
A team called ‘The Parrots’ were crowned winners after narrowly beating Sawbridgeworth Town A. ‘The Only Way is Belhus’ were awarded the Fair Play trophy and Emma Hastings of Sawbridgeworth Town B was presented with the Player of the Tournament award.
Tottenham Hotpsur Foundation Development Coach Olivia Worsfold said “The tournament was a great success and we were really pleased with the turnout. All the women left with a smile on their faces. The standard of play was excellent throughout the evening; it made it hard to pick an individual player, however Emma’s name kept coming up over and again. We have had teams already sign up for our next tournament.”
Both Think Fit and Female Legends aim to inspire women to become more physically active and lead healthier lifestyles.
Think Fit is a three-year project offering sport, physical activity and health opportunities to women aged 16+ across Haringey, Enfield, Waltham Forest and Barnet, particularly targeting those who live in deprived communities.
We will be running the next Female Legends Tournament on Friday 20 January at Wadham Lodge. The tournament is FREE to enter with the chance to win prizes.
