The time is right for Carlo

After 10 successful years with our London rivals Chelsea, Carlo Cudicini felt the time was right for a change when we made him our third signing of the January transfer window on Monday.

The Italian goalkeeper won two league titles among other silverware during his time at Stamford Bridge, and now he is relishing the new challenge that awaits him.

At the age of 35, Carlo feels there is plenty of room for further success during his time at The Lane.

"You get to a stage where you feel you need a change and now is the right time," he said. "I have this great opportunity to come here and I'm really happy to have made this choice.

"This is my chance of a new challenge and to push for further success. I'm really looking forward to being part of this great team and great club.

"It was fantastic to win the league two years in a row and to reach the final of the Champions League at Chelsea. 10 years is almost a third of my life, so it was a fantastic experience, but we have to look forward now."

Having arrived on these shores a decade ago, Carlo is no stranger to games at White Hart Lane or the Club he is joining.

"Spurs is a great club that has always had great goalkeepers. I met one of those this morning in Pat Jennings [our Goalkeeping Consultant], so it's been a fantastic start to my new life.

"I've always liked playing at White Hart Lane because it's a great stadium with a great atmosphere, and of course it was always a London derby when I played."

But there is no time for settling in, and Carlo knows he has to hit the ground running as he prepares for what could be his debut in tonight's crucial home match with Stoke.

"I don't think anybody expected Spurs to be in this situation, but I think the team has the quality and character to get out of this situation.

"We have four months until the end of the season, so we need to fight to win every game. There's no need to think about what has happened, we just need to win games."
