On Wednesday September 17th teams from St Paul's and All Hallows Junior School, Tottenham, and The Firs Junior School, Bishop's Stortford, competed at Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart Lane in the first Stansted Express Cup. St Paul's and All Hallows Junior School were the eventual winners of the tournament held in Tottenham's indoor facility.
The children enjoyed an action packed day with Tottenham Hotspur's Football in the Community coaches, which included a tour of the stadium, professional football coaching, and even the chance to collect autographs from Glenn Hoddle and first team players Stephen Carr and Anthony Gardner, before the tournament began.
The teams where brought together as part of Stansted Express's Tottenham Showcase week. During this week Football in the Community has been working with Stansted Express to highlight to the wider community Tottenham's credentials as an international interchange thanks to Tottenham Hale's prime location on the rail route between Liverpool Street and Stansted Airport.
Stansted Express hopes the exercise will help promote the regeneration of Tottenham and the surrounding area. Football in the Community are glad to support this cause and happy with the opportunity to make good links with community football teams and activities in the Stansted area and beyond!
