Should the winter weather see to it that the pitches at Spurs Lodge become unplayable at any time, the players can now be protected from the elements by our very own dome!
It is an inflated indoor facility - believed to be one of the largest in Europe of its kind - covering a full-sized artificial pitch. A covered playing surface is a requirement to retain full FA Premier Academy League status and David Pleat reports that Spurs players of all age groups will benefit from the innovation.
"We were asked to provide an indoor facility and we have done," reported David. "It is quite an impressive structure and I'm sure we will use it more.
"I know from my time at Luton that playing on an artificial surface improves a player's first touch over a period of time. We won't use it over long periods with the possibility of strains, but we will do some work in there and it is a great facility for the young boys.
"People must remember, this isn't a club just about professionals, we have young hopefuls from 11 upwards who come here during the week to train. We have a responsibility to them."
