One of the best defenders of the Premier League era, England international, Champions League winner and now one of the most respected pundits on TV, Jamie Carragher was at Wembley for our 3-1 win against Real Madrid. Here’s what he had to say...

Jamie Carragher on pundit's dutyJamie lifts the Champions League trophy in 2005

Jamie Carragher

-  One-club man, 737 matches for Liverpool between his debut in 1997 and 2013
-  Won Champions League with Liverpool, 2005
-  Also won two FA Cups, three League Cups, UEFA Cup and two UEFA Super Cups
-  Capped 38 times by England
-  Now top pundit with Sky Sports

‘It could have been five or six’

Jamie: “It was outstanding. Spurs completely dominated the team that has won the European Cup for the last two seasons. It could have been five or six to be honest. We (Liverpool) beat Real Madrid in 2009, we beat them 4-0 but we didn’t play that Real Madrid. The Real Madrid we played can’t compare with a team that has won the European Cup (Champions League) twice on the bounce. They’ve dominated European football for the last two years, won La Liga last season - I think it’s one of the great nights in English football in terms of European competition."
