Our players selected in England's World Cup squad received their squad numbers for the tournament on Thursday.

Our players selected in England's World Cup squad received their squad numbers for the tournament on Thursday.

Aaron Lennon will follow in the footsteps of World Cup greats David Beckham, Bryan Robson and Alan Ball by wearing the number 7 shirt in South Africa.

Peter Crouch will wear the number 9 jersey, as previously worn in Finals by the likes of Alan Shearer, Peter Beardsley and Bobby Charlton.

Who can forget Paul Gascoigne's performances at the 1990 World Cup Finals in Italy? Can Jermain Defoe emulate the Spurs legend wearing the iconic number 19 shirt.

Ledley King, meanwhile, has been given the number 20 jersey, as worn by Michael Owen when scoring that unforgettable solo effort against Argentina at France '98.
