We were a bit disappointed after losing at West Brom and it was important to bounce back against Newcastle.
West Brom played well on the night but we don't have to look at them, we have to look at ourselves. We thought even with two or three players out we could have got a result but it didn't come off.
You are always worried then because you go into the Newcastle game and with Owen and Shearer as a pair they usually win. Perhaps we were a bit lucky that Owen had to go off although good luck to him, I hope he'll be fit soon.
For us, that was maybe an advantage but I think we played well in the second half anyway
We deserved to win, we had the initiative all the time and that's what we needed.
Teemu Tainio came in and did a terrific job, our midfield played well and we also did well at the back. We didn't give away a lot of chances, maybe just the one to Ameobi in the second half that bounced up over the bar.
Overall we did a terrific job. It was a good performance, a good result and the crowd went home happy. That's what we wanted because you never know against Newcastle. We are fourth in the league, so we are all happy about that and now we have to do the same again against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Martin Jol takes time out of preparations for the trip to Manchester City to give us his final thoughts on the win against Newcastle United...
